Does my child need sealants?
Sealants are a safe and simple way to help your child avoid cavities, especially for the hard-to-reach molars. Sealants are made from a plastic material that the dentist brushes on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth. They protect teeth from plaque and acid attacks. As long as the sealant remains intact, the tooth surface will be protected from decay. Sealants may need to be reapplied at some point. During your regular dental visits, your dentist will check the sealants and reapply them when necessary.
