Bonding is a procedure commonly used to fix chips, fractures or decay in teeth. Composite resin is applied and bonds to affected teeth to fill in any problem areas.
How does bonding work?
This one-visit procedure begins after local anesthetic is delivered, if necessary. The dentist first prepares and conditions the tooth to adhere strongly with the resin. After the resin is applied, the dentist artistically creates the proper shape and matches the color to the existing tooth. A curing light is then used to permanently bond the material in place. Last, the dentist checks the patient's bite and adjusts if necessary.
